HIRING YOUR BOAT

This page includes the 2008 WEEKLY HIRE CHARGES and the 2008 SHORT BREAK CHARGES, information about BOOKING NOTES, our CONDITIONS OF HIRE and our HARDSHIP CANCELLATION SCHEME. HOW TO MAKE A BOOKING

The booking line telephone number is 01606 832460. Normal booking hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and Saturday March - September. If the office is closed please leave a message on the answer machine. We are closed on Sundays except for emergencies. Or of course you can email or fax us at any time.

Phone, email, fax or write to discuss dates and boats and make a provisional booking. Discussing availability options is easier by telephone if this is practicable for you. PLEASE READ OUR TERMS & CONDITIONS OF HIRE.
Confirm the provisional booking normally within one week unless agreed otherwise. by either;
(a) Printing out our booking form and sending the completed form by mail with a cheque for the deposit or by fax with your credit or debit card details.
(b) Completing our FULLY SECURE ONLINE BOOKING FORM including your credit or debit card details.
We then send you the official hire invoice/confirmation.
The balance of the hire charges must be paid six weeks before the holiday date.

Boats are usually hired by the week during the season of March to October but there are other possibilities.

Short Breaks: Normally 3 night weekend or 4 night midweek at about 65% of the weekly charge. Availability varies – please enquire. Click for prices..
Out of Season: Late Autumn and Winter hire (November and December) is becoming more popular; the boats are warm, the canals quiet and the prices low! Route restrictions will apply.
Christmas Hire: For a really memorable Christmas, eat your turkey afloat! Cosy centrally heated boats, festive canal side pubs, and some cruising thrown in. What could be nicer?

We will be delighted to show you the boats, but please telephone or email first to ensure both we and the boat you want will be available!

BOOKING NOTES

1. WHAT THE PRICE INCLUDES
VAT at 17.5%, marine insurance, diesel fuel, TV, car parking, buoyancy aids, bedding, and all boat equipment as shown in the brochure. Overseas visitors can convert our prices to their own currency using this currency converter link.

2. DAMAGE WAIVER
You pay a single non-returnable payment which relieves you of any further liability towards loss or damage to the boat, with the following exceptions:1. Rudder and tiller. 2. Roof Equipment (boat shafts, chimneys and Buckby cans where supplied). 3. Malicious damage and negligence. 4. Speeding. 5. Returning a boat late or in a dirty condition. 6. Ceramic Cooker Hob. The cost is shown on the price list.

3. REPEAT BOOKINGS DISCOUNT
We are delighted to welcome back friends for a second (or even third!) week's holiday and give 15% discount on such bookings taken separately and subsequent to the first holiday, in the same calendar year.

4. PAYMENT
This can be by cheque, credit card, debit card or cash. If paying by card please show the details along the top of the booking form and quote card number, expiry date and name of the card holder as it appears on the card. Visa, Amex, Mastercard and Switch are accepted.

CONDITIONS OF HIRE

All contracts for the hire of boats shall be subject to Willow Wren Kearns t/a Middlewich Narrowboats standard Terms and Conditions of Hire from time to time in force. Click to see the current version of the standard Terms and Conditions of Hire.

HARDSHIP CANCELLATION SCHEME

The cost is shown on the booking form.
Once a boat has been booked you are responsible for paying the full hire fee, even if you have to cancel your trip. We, therefore, have a scheme which you can take out to guard against this. This insurance is valid from the time we receive your signed booking form until boat boarding commences and covers cancellation due to;
1. Redundancy and subsequent unemployment
2. Jury service of any of the named members of the party.
3. Death, illness, accident or maternity affecting named members or their parent, parent-in-law, sibling, spouse or child. Cancellation for any other reason does not qualify.
It is necessary that the cancellation is supported by evidence such as a Doctors certificate, and that we are notified immediately in writing. Upon receipt of the satisfactory evidence, we will forego the balance due to us and return the money paid. Our decision in any case will be final.
